PSAT 2008     7 December, 2007, 12:19 am
The PSAT exam will be proctored here at SJS on Wednesday, October 15. All students in grades 9-11 will participate in the exam.

The PSAT prepares students (especially grade 11) for the SAT in Spring '09. It also qualifies students for the National Merit Scholarship awards disseminated in their senior year (class of 2010). Colleges also use the PSAT scores as reference material for entrance requirements.

Below is some important information that students can utilize:

The PSAT score is broken into three parts: Critical Reading (CR); Math (M); and Writing (W.) Each score represents your "potential" in that area. It also gives you an insight into the SAT exam and what score you may receive.

EXAMPLE:
CR = 41 or 410/ 800 (SAT CR)
M = 59 or 590/ 800 (SAT M)
W = 42 or 420/ 800 (SAT W)
_____________________________
Total 142 or 1420/ 2400 SAT

In-coming Seniors, class of 2009, who received scores ranging from 70-80 may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program. Semi-finalists are announced in September 2008. Past NMS finalists are Hannah Katibah '08, Kim Reinhold '05 and Katie Proctor '04.

INTERESTED IN COLLEGE? You can explore your future career or college options with the My College Quick Start Program using your "access code" from the upper-right hand corner of your PSAT/NMSQT 2007 score report.
